Celpe-Bras 2026/2 dates: October in Brazil, November abroad
Celpe-Bras 2026/2 is still ahead: the exam is October 20–23, 2026 at test centers in Brazil and November 24–27, 2026 abroad. Registration for this sitting already closed (July 27, 2026 – August 6, 2026). If you are registered, this page is the remaining calendar — results, prep, and the mock. If you missed the window, the next sitting is 2027/1 (projected April 27, 2027); INEP typically publishes that edital about two months before the exam.
Status right now. You cannot register for 2026/2 anymore. The exam itself has not happened. Results are due December 15, 2026 in Brazil and January 15, 2027 abroad. The useful move from here is prep — timed writing and the oral — not a closed application form.
The Celpe-Bras 2026 calendar
The exam is administered by Brazil's INEP (Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais) roughly twice a year — once in spring, once in fall — and each session gets its own edital (the official notice) spelling out the full set of dates: registration, payment, the exam itself, results. The second 2026 session is edital No. 92: it was published on July 9, 2026, and its registration window opened about two and a half weeks later, on July 27. If you're planning around a future session rather than this one, it's worth checking the news section of gov.br/inep yourself from time to time — the gap between an edital's publication and its registration window isn't fixed and can vary from session to session.
Session 2026/1 (already over — useful as a reference). Registration ran from February 24 to March 6, payment was accepted through March 10, the exam itself took place April 28–May 1, the fee was R$ 259, and results came out on June 30, 2026. This cycle matters less for its own sake than as a template: registration, payment, exam, results roughly two months later — the fall wave follows the same pattern.
Session 2026/2 — exam still ahead, registration closed. Every date below comes from the official INEP edital No. 92/2026:
| Registration (closed) | July 27, 2026 – August 6, 2026 |
| Fee payment deadline | August 7, 2026 |
| Exam at test centers in Brazil | October 20–23, 2026 |
| Exam at test centers abroad | November 24–27, 2026 |
| Results — Brazil | December 15, 2026 |
| Results — abroad | January 15, 2027 |
Note the split: test centers abroad run a full month after Brazil, with results following in mid-January. If you need the certificate by a specific deadline — for a university application or an exchange program, say — plan around the results date, not the exam date. The 2026/1 fee was R$ 259; the 2026/2 amount was set on the portal during registration. For 2027/1, wait for the next edital rather than assuming the same figure.
Where to take it: a worldwide network of test centers
Celpe-Bras isn't something you can only take in Brazil. INEP accredits a network of postos aplicadores (test centers) both across Brazil and abroad, and the same institute sets the rules and procedures for all of them — so whether you sit the exam in Rio, in Moscow, or at a European posto, the format and grading criteria are identical. What differs by location is logistics: which posto's fee you pay, how you pay it, and the exact dates that apply to you. As the calendar above shows, the abroad wave of 2026/2 runs about a month later than the Brazil wave, with results following about a month after that.
The network keeps growing, too — Moscow's Linguistic University became an accredited posto only in December 2024, for instance, and new locations are added from session to session. Because of that, the exact list of accredited postos abroad — and their addresses — changes between sessions, so listing specific ones here would go stale fast. The INEP portal publishes the current list the moment registration opens, and that's where you pick the posto nearest you.
This matters more than it might seem, because a lot of prospective test-takers assume Celpe-Bras is a Brazil-only affair and either put off certification until their next trip to Brazil or give up on the idea entirely. Neither is necessary anymore: if there's an accredited posto reasonably close to you, you can register, prepare, and sit the exam without booking a flight. The trade-off is timing, not access — as the calendar shows, postos abroad run on a schedule about a month behind Brazil's, so factor that into any deadline you're certifying for.
How registration works — next window is 2027/1
1. Go to the portal during your wave's registration window. All registration happens through celpebras.inep.gov.br/celpebras/ — there's no way around this portal, even if you've already been in touch with a posto directly. For 2026/2 that window ran July 27, 2026 – August 6, 2026 and is closed. The next one opens with the 2027/1 edital, typically about two months before the exam (projected April 27, 2027)— watch the news section of gov.br/inep from February, don't wait until you "feel ready."
2. Pick your posto aplicador. Choose whichever accredited posto — in Brazil or abroad — is most convenient for you from the current list on the portal. Picking a posto is really a logistics decision: it determines where you physically show up for the exam and how you'll pay the fee, not the exam format itself, which is identical everywhere.
3. Pay the fee. Inside Brazil, payment goes through a boleto for the official taxa; for postos abroad, the amount and payment method are set by the posto itself, so check with yours directly rather than assuming it matches the Brazilian fee. Payment deadlines track the registration window closely — for 2026/2 that was August 7, 2026 — but confirm the exact cutoff for your specific posto when 2027/1 opens.
4. Watch for confirmation from your posto. Details inside a session sometimes get refined after the fact, so keep a line of communication open with your posto all the way up to exam day rather than relying solely on the general edital, especially if you're registering through a posto abroad.
A practical note on timing: the registration window for a given session is short — a week or two, not a month — and it opens and closes on fixed calendar dates regardless of how ready you feel. Missing it means waiting for the next edital, not a rolling enrollment. If you already registered for 2026/2, the remaining work is prep, not paperwork.
Getting ready for the October / November sitting
If you already registered, the remaining window is the exam itself: Brazil October 20–23, 2026, abroad November 24–27, 2026. That's an honest, workable stretch if you already have a solid B1 foundation and can commit real time to targeted preparation — not general language study, but working through the exam's format specifically and drilling writing against a clock. Split what's left: shore up vocabulary and grammar to a confident B1, practice each of the four tarefas individually, and run full timed mock sessions covering both the written and oral parts in the final weeks. If the sitting is close, shift the balance toward timed practice and trim the general grammar review.
For exactly what the exam tests and how the four Parte Escrita tarefas and the Parte Oral are structured, see "Celpe-Bras exam structure"; for a broader overview of who needs the certificate and how to prepare overall, see "Preparing for Celpe-Bras"; and to run through the real timing yourself before exam day, try our written-part practice test.
Mnezo has a goal mode built for exactly this kind of prep: you enter your session's date, and the app builds a plan toward it and shows your readiness as a percentage — instead of a vague "practice regularly," you get a concrete countdown to October 20. A dedicated "Celpe" deck keeps the focus on A1–B1 vocabulary specifically, so you're not spreading effort across words the exam won't actually test.
