Vocabulary: 8,162 cards from A1 to C2
Words per level: A1 — 875, A2 — 1,523, B1 — 1,871, B2 — 1,617, C1 — 1,175, C2 — 1,101. Study them by level, by topic — from greetings and cafés to health and work — by frequency, starting with the most useful ones, or build your own list.
Every word comes with:
- a translation and a pronunciation guide;
- audio in two Brazilian voices, female and male (all 8,162 words);
- an example sentence with a translation and audio — the bank holds 9,499 voiced sentences;
- a photo of the meaning; two more picture styles, “near-photo” and “clay”, for 8,161 words — pick your style in the profile;
- a sound-alike mnemonic in English for 4,101 words — a familiar English sound plus a short scene that links it to the meaning; 4,020 scenes are illustrated.
13 ways to practise words
First, browse and flip a new word without grading yourself. Then practise it the way you like:
- flashcards with self-rating, and mnemonic cards where the scene is the hint;
- a four-option quiz, from Portuguese and into Portuguese;
- building the word from letters — from the translation or by ear;
- “Type the word” from a picture and a translation;
- “What do you hear?” — pick the word you heard; “Say it” — pronounce the word aloud;
- “Picture → word” and “Word → picture”;
- a mixed lesson (new words plus reviews) and “Reinforce” — only the words you remember poorly.
Reviews without cramming
The FSRS-6 spaced-repetition algorithm schedules reviews: it estimates an interval from your answer history, so a word comes back as it starts to fade. Wrong answers from the word trainer, exercises, exams and courses collect in “My mistakes”, where you can see why an answer was wrong and test yourself on a fresh example.
Phrases, idioms and examples
1,095 everyday phrases, 242 idioms at B1–C2 and 9,499 example sentences — every example is voiced.
Grammar and exercises
98 grammar topics from A1 to C2, with tables and examples. Alongside them, 9,614 exercises across 97 topics: answers are checked instantly and every mistake comes with an explanation.
Reading, listening and writing
39 reading texts from A1 to C2, with comprehension questions.
314 recordings with tasks and transcripts — from a chat at the bakery to C2 podcasts and reports. Listen first, then answer; the transcript opens after your attempt.
43 writing prompts in the catalog plus writing in every course. AI reviews your text: a level with reasons, each error explained and what to revise. This is learning feedback, not an official examiner's decision.
Books: 12 books in easy and intermediate editions
Classics retold in Brazilian Portuguese, in an easy (A1–A2) and an intermediate (B1) edition — 420 narrated chapters in total. The text lights up as the chapter is read aloud, and any unknown word translates with one tap. The shelf includes The Secret Garden, Treasure Island, The Adventures of Pinocchio and the Brazilian classic Memoirs of a Militia Sergeant by Manuel Antônio de Almeida.
Guided courses from A0 to C2
A course leads you lesson by lesson: new words, grammar, reading, listening and writing come in one sequence, and what you've learned comes back in later tasks until it sticks. A0 is 50 short lessons for complete beginners.
Finding a topic easy? Test out of it. A topic's check is available right away, without the lessons: pass it and the topic counts as done and the next one opens — no need to redo what you already know.
A separate CELPE-Bras track: the Foundation course from zero (28 modules, the first one free), then First certificate — 40 modules and 80 writing tasks — a 26-lesson genre workshop and a simulator of the written exam.
All courses, from A0 to C2, are available with Russian, English, Spanish and French explanations. Sign in to save your progress.

Alongside the guided courses, the A1–C2 catalog offers vocabulary, grammar, reading, listening, writing and practice exams. Catalog levels do not imply a complete guided course at every level in every explanation language.
Follow a course or study on your own
The course isn't the only way in. Every section works on its own: the word trainer, grammar with exercises, reading, listening, writing, books and exams. Follow the course step by step, patch specific gaps, or mix both — the daily plan suggests what to review. Search finds any word, phrase or topic in a second.
Exams
A practice exam for every level from A1 to C2: 1,214 questions in the pools, 15, 25 or 40 per attempt, with a score and a breakdown by section — reading, listening, grammar and writing.
For Brazil: a CELPE-Bras written-exam simulator (4 tasks, 180 minutes), ENEM — four areas of 45 questions plus a graded essay, and supletivo — 13 subjects, 551 questions, 78 theory chapters and 381 term cards.
Explanation languages
The interface, translations and explanations are available in English, Russian, Spanish and French. Mnemonics are written for each learner's language: Russian ones exist for all 8,162 words, English ones for 4,101, Spanish ones for 3,996 and French ones for 2,863. Words that already look and sound almost the same in your language don't need one.
What's free
